What do we learn about?

CLICK HERE to see half-termly overviews of all the things we learn about.

Homework

There is no homeworkgrid  in Reception. Reading with your child is the most valuable way that you can support their learning.

Your  child will also have worksheets with the letters we have learned each week to re-cap and practise at home.  These will be sent home at the end of the week in their phonics folder.

Class assemblies

Reception will  have a class assembly in the summer term.

Learning bags and library

Don't forget to bring your learning bag every day.  The children will be changing books regularly and this will be recorded in their home/school reading diary.  Children can also borrow books from our class library to share at home.  They can change these books any day.

Please read with your child as often as you can - it is the most helpful way to support their learning.

Library day is Tuesday. Your child will be able to choose a book to take home and given a special plastic wallet to keep their library book in.  We will start to visit the library mid way through the year.

Certificates

Starting from Reception summer term, children will receive one certificate per term for their achievements. Children will continue to receive one certificate per term throughout their time at our school.

Happiness and well-being of children

We recognise that starting Reception is a big step for children and parents/carers. For this reason, you will be offered a slot with the class teacher to discuss how this big step is going. This will take place during the first half of the  autumn term.

Of course we love to discuss learning too! We will discuss your child's learning during parents' evenings, which you can sign up for electronically. We will send you a prompt to do this.
